Transforming waste heat into usable energy
Heating and cooling buildings requires a considerable amount of energy, not only in homes and offices, but also in production and storage facilities. During the production of quartz glass, waste heat is generated by melting quartz sand at extremely high temperatures. Together with Heraeus Site Operations, Heraeus Conamic has developed an innovative and sustainable solution for heat integration in which the waste heat generated is used to heat other buildings.
With this solution several hundred tons of CO2 are saved every year, which contributes to a significant reduction in environmental impact. The achievement and innovative approach have been recognized with this year’s Heraeus Award for sustainability, underlining our joint efforts and commitment to environmentally friendly and future-oriented solutions.
This waste heat recovery measure is part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and the drive to constantly find new innovative ways to achieve energy efficiency. By using resources effectively and responsibly, we are helping to minimize the environmental impact of our operations while making a positive contribution to protecting our planet.
